Our Core Purpose

Our Core Purpose

Better Backyard Store exists to make the daily reset something you can walk out your back door and find waiting. Heat, cold, steam, and quiet — the practices people have leaned on for centuries, built into the space you already own.

We carry saunas, cold plunge tubs, and steam from manufacturers who build this equipment for a living. Not the cheapest cabinet that will make it through one winter, but the kind of cedar, stainless, and stone that still looks right in a decade. Every model we list, we can explain: what it draws, what it needs underneath it, and who it actually suits.

Choosing one is where most people get stuck, and that is the part we are good at. Tell us your room dimensions, your electrical, and how you plan to use it, and we will spec it properly — or tell you honestly when a smaller unit is the better call.

Common Questions

Most traditional saunas require a 220–240V hardwired connection on a dedicated breaker, sized to the heater's output. You'll also want a separate 120V circuit for lighting and controls. Infrared cabins are the exception — many run on a standard 120V outlet. A licensed electrician must handle the wiring, and we'll confirm the exact amperage and wire gauge for your model before you order.

A level, load-bearing surface. A concrete pad is ideal, though a properly reinforced deck or compacted gravel base can work depending on the model and your climate. Confirm the exact footprint and weight against the manufacturer's documentation before you pour — we'll send you the specs.

Heater output is matched to the room's interior volume, then adjusted for glass area, insulation, and whether the sauna sits indoors or outdoors. As a rough guide, most residential rooms land between 6kW and 9kW. Tell us your dimensions and we'll spec it properly — an undersized heater never reaches temperature, and an oversized one wastes power and dries the room out.

Most units ship free within the contiguous US. Lead times vary by manufacturer and model, typically two to six weeks from order. Larger units ship by curbside freight on an appointment basis, and we'll coordinate the delivery window with you.

Sauna cabins arrive by freight, often on multiple pallets. The driver delivers curbside only and is not responsible for moving the unit onto your property, so plan for two or more people to receive it. Inspect the crates before signing — note any damage on the delivery receipt and report it to us within 24 hours so we can file a claim.

Orders can be cancelled before they ship. Once shipped, returns are accepted within 30 days on unused product in original packaging; return freight and a restocking fee apply. Backordered items cancelled after the order is placed carry a small cancellation fee. Full terms are in our Refund & Return Policy.
